内    容:J- and H-aggregates of π-conjugated dyes are particularly interesting because of their unique optical and excitonic properties. However, the use of J- and H-aggregates in electronic and optoelectronic devices still remains to be challenge because of the difficulty of controlling their sizes and morphologies.  In this talk, I will show how to use  the co-assembly of lithocholic acid (LCA) and 3,3′-diethylthiacarbocyanine iodide (DiSC2(3)) to control the formation of J- or H-aggregate nanofibers with in ammonia solution. Specifically, LCA and DiSC2(3) at the mixed molar ratio of 5:1 co-assemble into H-aggregate nanofibers. When the molar ratio is reduced to 1:1, they co-assemble into J-aggregate nanofibers. The H-aggregates show an achiral conformation in nanofibers, while the J-aggregates show is a chiral conformation in nanofibers. The H-aggregate nanofibers form Schottky junction with gold electrodes, while the J-aggregate nanofibers show Ohmic contact with gold electrodes. Our findings open a simple way for controlling the formation of J- and H-aggregate nanofibers with distinct physical properties, which might serve as functional soft materials for electronic devices.
